Secure Password Generator

Generate strong random passwords and passphrases entirely in your browser.

How to use this tool

Pick a length and character sets, then copy the result. Passwords are created with the browser's cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues) and are never sent to a server. For admin accounts prefer 16+ characters and a password manager.

Worked example

A 16-character password using all four character sets has about 105 bits of entropy.

Frequently asked questions

Is this generator safe?

It runs locally in your browser using crypto.getRandomValues. Nothing is transmitted or stored.

How long should a password be?

At least 14–16 characters for random passwords; longer for anything protecting infrastructure.

Passphrase or random string?

Random strings for password managers; long passphrases for things you must type from memory.
