Base64 / JSON / Hash Tools

Encode and decode Base64, format and validate JSON, and compute SHA hashes locally.

How to use this tool

Paste text into the box and choose an operation: Base64 encode/decode, JSON pretty-print/minify/validate, or SHA-1/256/384/512 hash. Everything is computed in your browser; your data is not uploaded.

Worked example

Base64 of "admin:secret" is YWRtaW46c2VjcmV0, which is how HTTP Basic auth encodes credentials (it is encoding, not encryption).

Frequently asked questions

Is Base64 encryption?

No. It is reversible encoding with no secrecy at all.

Which hash should I use?

SHA-256 for integrity checks. Never use plain hashes to store passwords; use bcrypt, scrypt or Argon2.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. All processing happens locally in your browser.
